A career in gaming is now a reality. There are varieties of fields in which a person can enjoy working and get paid decent amount in the gaming industry.
According to KMPG and Google’s report online gaming in India is reaching a new milestone, the Indian gaming industry is set to add 190 million gamers by 2021. As the increasing smartphone accessibility in rural and urban areas and affordable and economical technological system, the internet penetration as of today stands at 31% and going to see elevation of 53% of the total population by 2021.
A career in gaming is not only limited to just playing games and championship battles. There are diverse careers in gaming to choose from and you can actually be a part of this exciting gaming industry. A game requires lot of work force and resources to how the game will look like such as Video Game Developers/Designers write and debug to develop the game for different platforms.
Not a only building the basic functioning of video games and programing, a game developer also test and evaluates the games look for bugs and errors in the design and control mechanism of the game. Video game development is a complex, creative and logical process. The game development team consists of programmer, writer, audio programmer, level designer, animator, modeler, license support engineer and software engineer.

A video game designer will come up with the concepts that eventually become video games. You’ll develop the storylines and characters, and then work with creative team of designers and developers through the game production process to bring your game to life.

Software developer and computer programmer will turn the game designers vison into a playable and controllable game. It involves in the more technical aspect of the game. Programming languages and game engines are used to build the gameplay.

Audio Engineer
An audio engineer use computer and electrical sound equipment to create everything you hear in a game, from sound effects to ambient noise, background music and voice-overs. Sound is a huge part of the game experience.

Game Animator
The ability to bring video games to life visually is becoming increasingly valuable within the gaming industry. Animators are responsible for using specialist software to create the series of pictures that visually represent the movement and behaviour of characters within a game.

Games Play Tester
Game testers work their way around the game to make sure it functions correctly and game instructions and documentation are clear. They look for bugs and glitch in the system and report findings to the designer and developers. It looks pretty cool job but it takes immense efforts to find all the bugs and glitches in the game.

Professional Gamer
A part being in the game studio you can also be in gaming industry by becoming a professional gamer. You need to be incredibly talented and devote a lot of time each day to practice. Being professional requires high effort in practice to perform at the best in the competition and championships. The salary of a gamer will obviously vary depending on how skilled you are. Professional gamers earn winnings from sponsored tournaments and personal sponsorships just like professional athletes.

Game Streamer
A streamer has become a career option very recently as the internet penetration increased with advancement of the technology. Streamer requires skills in game as well as the ability to entertain the audience and keep enjoying your streams. The streamers revenue varies on the views and subscription they have on the different platform. Streamers also generate income with the help of ads and sponsorship contracts.

Conclusion: A career in gaming has been and will continue to be fascinating in the future. Neither the players nor the makers are abandoning this Promised Land in the near future. Here is my take on careers in the gaming industry that put the creative streak to the right use and at the same time help young talent to stay connected to the technical sides of the field.
